With his pizza oven presumably complete Gareth Liddiard has turned his attentions to The Drones’ protracted fifth album, which he hopes to have out by the end of the year.
"[We'll release it] at the end of the year if all goes well. Its early days yet but that's the plan," Liddiard told triple j’s Dom Alessio. "I've been writing but, I mean, no one has played yet – [drummer] Mike [Noga’s] in London, Dan [Luscombe’s] in Melbourne and I'm in the country - but I've been writing. I'm just getting past the teenage poetry part, you know what I mean.
"Every time you start writing something you just start from scratch so I'm relearning how to do it and I'm just getting good again. It's like a muscle you haven't flexed in a while; it's kind of all blank and yucky. So my initial attempts are always embarrassing and I have to erase them."
Liddiard will be playing a one-off solo show with Lost Animal at The Regal Ballroom in Melbourne on March 23, before heading off to ATP’s “I’ll Be Your Mirror” in Tokyo with The Drones.

Can someone please photoshop a pizza oven around Gareth's neck?
Probably just have to wait for untold to enter this thread.
sigh
Stop complaining and get to work!!!!
(bloody ctrl + v)
Could The Drones please stop being newsworthy so I can stop feeling like I have to spend my time mocking their myth?
Wagons hasn't been in the news for a while, just wait it out and you'll have your chance to re-diversify
I was hoping he'd do another pizza oven next :(
What about his ''new'' band with Perth drummer James Baker and Melbourne guitarist Spencer P. Jones? Maybe he didn't talk about that to Triple J but over at Tone Deaf website he did: http://www.tonedeaf.com.au/features/interviews/136923/gareth-liddiard-5.htm/2
Does anyone know anything more about it here??? If not why???
i saw james baker play about a month ago in the Painkillers but i'm pretty sure that wasn't spencer jones on guitar... James Baker however was awesome.. those driving toms... beautiful to behold..
