After a brief detour through “sincere scuzzy paranoid punk” under the pseudonym A Gender, Romy Hoffman has returned to her eponymous disco side project.
‘Home’ is the first taste of a forthcoming full-length, which the Melbourne-based singer (who’s also dabbled with hip-hop as Macromantics) hopes to release in the near future. “All the logistics are being mapped out,” she told M+N this week. “I’m just taking things one step at a time.”
It follows a 2010 single ‘Sleep’, which we described as “an upbeat dancefloor kicker, playing a straight beat off against plucky 909 rimshots and fat, buzzing bass stabs”.

The drums are heaps better than previous efforts, especially on the louder track. Still haven't made my mind up about the rest. It's miles ahead of the punk thing though.
premiere? orly?
Yeah, her Hip Hop stuff is better though.
c'mon tuggers, that's splitting hairs. linking from a forum post does not invalidate a ''premiere''.
romy gave us the track yesterday, but it was bumped because of breaking news.
unsplitts hairs
i like everything except the vocals
still, congrats on having your finger on the pulse, tugboat.
waits for JK The ESPY CCTV footage premiere

You're right it does sound like Ned Collette
Glad Romy paid attention to my genre prediction thread.
