Listen: The Flaming Lips Vs Tame Impala Vs Nick Cave

Ever wanted to hear Nick Cave do psycho-sexual spoken word babble over some psychedelic farts conjured up by The Flaming Lips? That’s pretty much what you get – and then some – on ‘You, Man? Human???’, one of several gonzo collaborations on The Flaming Lips And Heady Fwends.

The double album release, pressed in limited qualities on vinyl especially for last week’s Record Store Day, also features a track with Perth’s Tame Impala, a pleasant little nugget of space-pop called ‘Children Of The Moon’. As reported last month, singer Kevin Parker called The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne “deranged” for trying to extract his blood for insertion in a picture disc. We are not making this up.

“If anyone in Paris has any way of extracting blood out of my flesh and into a container without killing me so that I may give it to a deranged psych rocker to put INTO his band's album, then please let me know,” wrote Parker on Tame Impala’s Facebook page.

The Flaming Lips And Heady Fwends is limited to 20,000 copies and will not be repressed.

I really want to buy a copy of this, but, as far as I can tell, none of the 20,000 pressed have made it into Australia. Anyone see one/know where I can etc.?

I ordered one from their website but now they are gone. If I'd known how hard they were to get I would have ordered another for someone. Sorry!

The mp3 version has leaked though.

''limited qualities''.

Nice.

monkeyman  said about 1 year ago:

Na it doesn't suck at all.

But it's not genius either.

Fun and enjoyable, but not Soft Bulletin, Yoshimi or even Clouds Taste Metallic brilliant.

Still good, but.

I finally watched the promo video for the blood version of the LPs.

Holy crap.

There is no way I could handle that.

What on earth, Wayne.
