M+N is proud to announce our first ever international presents – and it’s none other than The Afghan Whigs in their maiden Australian tour.
Twenty-five years since their first gig in 1987, the Whigs will be performing two club shows in Melbourne and Sydney in July before taking to the stage at the now sold-out Splendour In The Grass festival in Byron Bay.
Formed in Cincinnati in 1986, the Greg Dulli-fronted trio have released six albums including Congregation, Black Love, 1965 and 1993’s Gentlemen, widely considered to be one of the greatest rock albums of its time.
The band haven’t performed since their final round of shows in 1999, recently reuniting for All Tomorrow’s Parties “I’ll Be Your Mirror” events in London and New Jersey, as well as Lollapalooza, Pukklepop and Primavera. Expect songs from their entire back catalogue, including tracks never before played live.
Tickets on sale May 4, 9am, with supports TBA.

hmmmm.
Telecom for support?
What's next? Everclear?
Well, I'm excited. C'mon you lot!

I for one welcome our American overlords
Well, I will be going to this.
M+N presents? - Does this mean The Hi Fi & The Factory will have obligatory Trolls running around during the set abusing punters ruining their enjoyment for their own amusement? Jose can chase them out with a broomstick and ban them?
LOL at Ralph. Have you heard the one about untold?
Good work, tempted! Everclear are really nothing like Afghan Whigs though u/a. I remember Gentlemen as a really good record, hmmm i wonder how it holds up these days...
woot and also hoot.
free tix for all thread starters, right?
everclear! haha
gentlemen still sounds amazing - doesn't suffer from that tinny 90s production and the songs are great. one of the best rock albums ever.
Sorry, I think the Afghan Whigs are just too old-timey dixieland Americana for me to know anything much enough to care. But woot etcetera! Ralph Malph, you'd better hope that doesn't happen, or you will be hearing some hilarious things about my love of bottoms or something.
Tops!
It's an amazing, amazing record. One of my favourite ever late night driving albums. Gut-wrenching, if you're in the right (wrong?) frame of mind.
Good to see there's no Brisbane show even though Splendour no longer calls QLD home.
I might have to put this band into my thread later this week...
Featuring JK.
fuck. yes.
Good one, yeah i recall it being quite the despondent, angry, break-up record but tastefully done. I'll dig it out, OK car... you and I have a date : )

I was very pleasantly surpirsed by how much I liked that. And those Panther posters were super sweet.
Mad props to the blokes at the urinal with their rendition of The Carpenters 'Close To You' last night at the Hi-Fi.
this aint about regret

Looks like there might be a very special guest hitting the stage TONIGHT at their Sydney concert at The Factory! :O

This was radddddd. Having Kilbey guest was a lot of fun. The band just got better and better through the gig,
i liked how they re-worked a lot of the 1965 stuff to be a bit more straight ahead.. so much black love, which is my fav record so i'm happy.
Hey - how were Here We Go Magic? Bummed they didn't have their own show.
KILBEY GUEST??? What song?
It's ok, I just checked Carbie's FB pic. Carry on.
more gentleman was required and less covers. good show though, incredible voice Dulli has
I've had Crazy running through my head all day so far
I was surprised at how little Gentleman there was, but the encore kind of satisfied my on that front.
I like the covers. Gives Dulli a chance to waggle his naughty finger at us.
The sound is crappy and the video is shakey but THIS happened last night at The Factory:

how were Here We Go Magic?
answer my question!
They were OK Arthurly. Total amateur hour on the LX desk which was super distracting, and the ''songier'' moments weren't that great, but the extended jammier/noiser bits were pure class and really enjoyable.
On Wednesday night, dude comes up to me after the show and asks ''Greg was standing right near you when he was in the crowd - WHY DIDN'T YOU LAUNCH YOURSELF AT HIM?!''
Haha, Greg was right in front of me for pretty much the entire time he was in the crowd. With pretty much anyone else I would have gone for a big hug, but I really wasn't game to see what would happen trying that one with him.
Awesome. Thanks for the link, Carbie!
I don't think I've ever seen The Church play it, so that's the first time I've heard it with live drums. Wooo.
