Watch: Teenage Mothers Feat. Circle Pit’s Jack Mannix

Hard to believe, but when they’re not at the centre of nang-huffing scandals or “shaming” agro bouncers on stage, Melbourne’s Teenage Mothers actually make music.

And for their latest single, they’ve teamed up with none other than former child prodigy Jack Mannix from Circle Pit, who’s sparked some forum controversy of his own by simply opening his mouth.

The track is called, ironically enough, ‘I Don't Wanna Play The Game’, and it’s an “intimate acoustic number” (complete with harmonica) that calls Bono a “motherfucker” and pokes fun at the industry. Its clip features live footage of the band; pie charts; and portrays the Temper Trap’s Dougy and M83’s Anthony Gonzalez, who recently booted them off his Australian tour, as the antichrists. (A view M+N categorically does not endorse.)

The track hails from the band’s debut album produced by Jim Sclavunos from The Bad Seeds/Grinderman.

Ha ha....just discovered a local film clip to rival this one in the dodgyness stakes. Both clips should be sold by Ken Bruce, they're that dodgy.

Ken Bruce has gone mad, Ken Bruce has gone mad, Ken Bruce has gone mad, KEN BRUCE HAS GONE COMPLETELY MAD.

It's great. Jack's 'Ask Me' page should be front page on the Triple J website.

Those questions about Teenage Mothers are not 'put' their by Teenage Mothers. Seriously. What a cheap accusation.

Raph, sometimes your absolute allegiance with your friends, even despite their efforts to distance themselves from you or your band, are very sweet. I think you would be a very loyal friend and lover. I hope I am not wrong.

I've put most of it down to 'LOL HEROIN, KOOL'

ptbarnum  said about 1 month ago:

I love how Jack just flat out calls Raph annoying. And wants nothing to do with the band/song.

''why is raph so annoying

I THINK HE HAS A SOCIAL DISORDER (THE OVER-DIAGNOSED ASBERGER'S MAYBE?). HE'S A GOOD PERSON, A FRIEND EVEN, BUT HE CAN BE ANNOYING. AND THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH HIM. BUT THERE'S PLENTY WRONG WIF ME SO WHO AM I 2 JUDGE? JUST DON'T WANNA TALK ABOUT HIM, JK (ALSO AN ANGEL) OR TM ANYMORE, K BABES? THNX.''

Since Northside restarted this thread, I may as well say...

I’m told that the Temper Trap guys are pissed off by this video. I spoke to their bass player the other day at the Stone Roses gig.

Some people misinterpret the clip. They think that we’re making fun of Dougy being a committed Christian.

I wanna make clear that the anti-Christ symbol on Dougy’s head....it’s got nothing to do with Dougy being a Christian. That's a coincidence that was only recently revealed to me. Now, as far as I’m concerned, there was nothing supernatural about Jesus. He was a radical Jewish rabbi whose philosophies come straight out of the Talmud.

Nevertheless, we’re not making fun of Dougy because of his Christian faith.

So you're saying that Jesus was a time traveler?

blacklight  said 29 days ago:

JRB, please explain that question.

JRB  said 29 days ago:

Oh. The Talmud's kinda a very post-Second Temple thing and the Temple wasn't destroyed until 30 odd years after the crucifixion is all.

I know I know, you're gonna say ''Yeah, but the ideas of the Talmud were around in Jesus' time'' and some of them were. The Talmud's an exegesis on oral law that had been around for a long time. But that shit ain't the Talmud.

But you already know this stuff because you have the confidence to make a bold statement and that means that you've read some of the Talmud or, at the very least, the first bit of the Wikipedia page which explains all this stuff.

blacklight  said 29 days ago:

JRB, you're right on every point. I have read some of the Talmud. I do so daily, actually. But the Mishnah (pre-Gemara oral law) is the heart of the Talmud and Jesus certainly would've studied the Mishnah.

JRB  said 29 days ago:

But it still isn't the Talmud.

Apparently he was:
