Beck To Headline Harvest 2012

News posted Thursday, June 14 2012 at 04:00 PM.
Related: Harvest.

The line-up for the second annual Harvest Festival has dropped this afternoon on triple j, with a surprise headliner in Beck, who hasn’t toured Australia since the shelved V Festival in 2007.

Other acts announced include:

Sigur Ros
Grizzly Bear
Mike Patton’s Mondo Cane
Ben Folds Five
Santigold
Beirut
Cake
The Dandy Warhols
The Black Angels
Chromatics
Ozomatli
Liars
F**k Buttons
The War On Drugs
Dark Dark Dark

Harvest will take place in Melbourne on November 11, Sydney's Parramatta Park on November 17 and the Riverstage in Brisbane on November 18,

Last year’s event saw performances by The Flaming Lips, Portishead, Mercury Rev and The National. While gigs in Brisbane and Sydney went off without a hitch – Harvest was named Best Major Festival at the recent Sydney Music, Arts and Culture awards – the Melbourne leg at Werribee Park was beset by long queues for drinks and toilets, a beer shortage and questions about the effectiveness of a drink coupon system. However, organiser AJ Maddah vowed to resolve those issues in 2012. “We'll do much better next year,” he said via Twitter.

Maddah recently confirmed to M+N on Twitter that the festival's local component will be announced later in the year. "Aus bands are on later announcements as they usually have headline shows on sale that may be compromised," he said.

In my mind, The Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev and Beck are all on the same line-up and I'm on acid and I'm having the BEST time. The BEST time.

happycow  said about 11 months ago:

''F**k Buttons''?

Really? M+N is censoring ''fuck'' now?

rawr  said about 11 months ago:

Wow, what an irrelevant lineup. It'll do great.

ghoti-max  said about 11 months ago:

I'm totally cool with a festival like this just filling its bill with acts I've kinda forgotten about.

national_highway_31  said about 11 months ago:

Who gives a fuck? 'Cyanide Breathmint' was great at Summersault, but that was more than fifteen years ago.

whatwhat  said about 11 months ago:

not as awesome as the 2011 line-up.

oh aj, how could you build us up, buttercup, baby just to let us down?

(is beck still doing that thing where the puppets have dinner on stage? that was cool.)

mule  said about 11 months ago:

Oh well there's still the second announcement

bungle  said about 11 months ago:

Liars, Chromatics and Fuck Buttons make for a pretty ace announcement for me.

Not that I'll go, but I'll see the shit outta some sideshows.

anonymous  said about 11 months ago:

When?

''...more to be announced''

when they've booked em.

would expect to see some locals pop in.

mule  said about 11 months ago:

no idea, just says there's more to be announced on the poster.

woolfat  said about 11 months ago:

Liars! Fuck. The rest is meh, but I'll go just for Liars.

electricsound  said about 11 months ago:

give me a chromatics sideshow and i can ignore this entirely

woolfat  said about 11 months ago:

What electricsound said, but replace chromatics with liars.
If there's no liars sideshow, I'll chop a cat.

mule  said about 11 months ago:

I know it's a futile task questioning band names these days but 'Dark Dark Dark'? what a toss pot of cock wank.

aloha  said about 11 months ago:

i like dark dark dark. i have no idea how they'd go at a festival though.

dimestorehood  said about 11 months ago:

Yeah Liars and Chromatics. I really wasnt expecting Chromatics to tour here this year.

Temet  said about 11 months ago:

How much are tickets this year?

sonian  said about 11 months ago:

$162

mud  said about 11 months ago:

I hope they don't charge too much for a replacement card/ticket when I inevitably lose it before next year.

anonymous  said about 11 months ago:

few people are complaining that the codes they were given have been used.

sonian  said about 11 months ago:

It's easily fixed. I called OzTix and they reset the password so I could use it. All sorted within 10 minutes.

anonymous  said about 11 months ago:

did you get tickets?

did you get further information on what the foundation thing provides?

mrmagoo  said about 11 months ago:

oztix sorted me out with the codes now, goodo!

having a dumb moment now, is it on the oztix site that i buy them??? i can't seem to find somewhere to use the codes

sonian  said about 11 months ago:

Use the link in the email that Harvest sent you.

mrmagoo  said about 11 months ago:

they left it off, but all sorted now

2 tix purchased

potcrok  said about 11 months ago:

So it seems that if you didn't have the foresight to see this happening and just went through Ticketek then its a case of you can just go fuck yourselves. . I bought a ticket last year, spent 3 hours in queues(not making this up) and subscribed to the newsletter and I get nothing. Thanks AJ.

woolfat  said about 11 months ago:

i wouldn't be too disappointed. seems like a bit of waste this year, to me.

I saw AJ's twitter feed had info about this. Tweet him your story and he'll sort it out.

Are these foundation member passwords able to be passed on?

If anyone got a password that they're not planning on using, I'd love to use it instead if its allowed...

If so, pm me. Cheers!

i didn't get the email but messaged oztix last night and they sent me an email with the code etc this morning.

well I'm amped for this. keen to see second announcement too. last year's didn't disappoint. And honestly, that queues problem was not enough to ruin the festival. for a first effort it rocked.

there is a rumour that radiohead are playing :/

not happening.

Sigur Ros sideshows announced, Perth and Adelaide only

so again looks like not much in the way of sideshows for the east coast
