Living End For 10k? ‘Our Freight Costs Are More Than That,’ Says Mgmt

“It probably explains why we’ve been getting strange emails from colleges in the US wanting to book The Living End for 7.5 to 10 grand.”

This is Living End manager Rae Harvey’s reaction to a list that purports to put a market price on pretty much every band in the world – from Green Day (“BIG $$$”) to Guided By Voices (40k), The Shins (75-100k) to Public Enemy (40k).

Circulating online today, the list has been credited to Pretty Polly Productions, which according to its website is a “a full service booking agency and concert production company specializing in college concerts, comedy, weddings, and private events/parties”.

And while the company appears to be legit, the validity of a document that lists the long deceased Bob Marley as “generally available” for a measly 10-15k surely has to be questioned. “It’s fake,” Harvey told M+N, “but I think people are treating it as a real list because we’ve been getting all these weird emails for that exact amount.”

Asked whether the figure quoted was in the ballpark for a Living End show in the US, Harvey was pretty unequivocal. “Our freight costs are more than that,” she joked.

Other Australian acts listed include Tame Impala (7.5k), Temper Trap (25-35k), the disbanded silverchair (“call for details”), Cut Copy (60-75k), Wolfmother (“call for pricing”) and Missy Higgins (12.5-15k).

CLARIFICATION: Turns out Bob Marley is a comedian from Portland, Maine. Who knew?
