The Presets have announced their first album in four years – and we now have another contender for worst cover of the year.
Following the wildly successful Apocalypso, which appeared on the worst covers list of 2008, third album Pacifica will be out September 14 through Modular Recordings. The album was produced by the duo of Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes, and mixed in Los Angeles by Tony Hoffer (The Thrills, M83, The Temper Trap). It’s been described as featuring “10 prismatic, synth-laced songs … [that] sees The Presets boldly venture into new, uncharted musical territories”.
Pacifica will be available as a deluxe version, which is limited to 1500 copies worldwide. It includes the album in three formats – CD, vinyl and download – as well as a hard cover book and a lithograph signed by the band. Pre-orders here.
Along with labelmates Tame Impala, The Presets have just been confirmed for this year’s Parklife, which will take place in Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide in September.

These guys are a poor mans Donny Benet.
they're richer than donny benet will ever be!
The 80's clothes are horrible. Why would you want to pose like that on the front of an album? What are they trying to say? I need answers for the ugliness!
Apocalypso was a brilliant pop record (for what it tried to do).
They've both got kids now. So they can't pretend they're gay in all the gay magazines.
That Tony Hoffer guy really spends time with a lot of knob heads (Presets excluded)
blacklight = Joe Hockey??
Still better than the Total Control cover . . .
i don't hate it
Henge Beat is terrible but this is much much worse
They look like weird 3D versions of themselves.
I really hope they don't play Meredith
