– Sydney indie Rice Is Nice are throwing a party in their hometown next month. The occasion: a mysterious new signing, who will perform a (not so) “secret” set at The Annandale on July 1. Virtually the label’s entire roster will perform including The Laurels, Straight Arrows, SPOD, Donny Benét, Richard In Your Mind, Seja and Shady Lane, as well as a DJ set by Seekae, who recently performed at the Opera House as part of Vivid Sydney. Pre-sale tickets are $10 via www.riceisnice.net/store, or $13 on the door.
– Hard to believe, but Melbourne’s Two Bright Lakes are five years old. Since forming in 2007, the artist-run label has put out some great records by the likes of Nick Huggins, Kid Sam, Otouto, Oscar + Martin and Seagull; put on shows across the country; scored themselves an Australian Music Prize nomination; and are co-curators of the annual Sugar Mountain festival. To celebrate half a decade, they’re bringing out Philly beatmaker Knxwledge for his first Australian show. It'll all take place at The Mercat Basement in Melbourne on July 20, with Oscar + Martin, Fox & Sui and Two Bright Lakes DJs also on the bill. Tickets on sale here.

I foresee fun being had.
That was pretty fuckin excellent

ex-Wolfmother members and someone else who I can't remember
oh well, lineup was awesome enough without surprise acts anyhow.
From esquared's twitter
I was busy demolishing a hamburger during their set, but people I spoke to panned the fuck out of them.
Beers dropped to $2 during SPOD's set, which was just about the most fun thing ever.
interesting. i used to love the RSB back in the day, so I guess I'll give 'em a chance.
THIS IS HOW YOU WIN BACK THE PUNTERS, ANNANDALE!
This was a great show! I got a hug and a flower from Spod :)
Sarah Kelly's new band was good I thought.
Sarah Kelly! Sarah Kelly! Sarah Kelly! Sarah Kelly! Sarah Kelly! Sarah Kelly!
Solid night / show. Crowd thinned a bit after the laurels (meh). Kinda a bummer cause straight arrows killed it (yeah!)
