Listen: New Presets ‘Youth In Trouble’

The Presets have given us a rather unexpected teaser from their new album Pacifica.

Instead of the obligatory dancefloor banger, we get six minutes of unrelenting, tension-filled techno called ‘Youth In Trouble’, which is heightened by a flashback-inducing clip by New York-based visual artist Yoshi Sodeoka. The track will be available through iTunes with remixes by Green Velvet, Alex Metric and The Finger Prince & Light Year.

Pacifica was produced by The Presets – Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes – and mixed in Los Angeles by Tony Hoffer (The Thrills, M83, The Temper Trap). It’s been described as featuring “10 prismatic, synth-laced songs … [that] sees The Presets boldly venture into new, uncharted musical territories”. Pre-orders, including a deluxe edition, here.

Along with labelmates Tame Impala, The Presets have just been confirmed for this year’s Parklife, which will take place in Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide in September.

I actually don't mind it, but once again with most new music these days it just makes me want to listen to what so obviously influenced it; in this case, late 90's Underworld.

Not sure about the song. They seem to have left out the hook.

The 80s vhs look is already so played, but i liked the song

Kinda disagree with Goal Attack - the Fairlight video synth vibe pretty perfectly sits with the retro synth vibe of what these guys do for me.
