Ahead of its imminent release, Tame Impala have given us a taste of new album Lonerism (yes, that really is the title). ‘Apocalypse Dreams’, a snippet of which featured on a teaser clip issued last week, is available for free download by signing up to the Modular newsletter. It’s a dense, shape-shifting number with Beatlesy changes that certainly lives up to drummer Jay Watson’s description of the record as “having lots of synths on it”.
Lonerism is the follow-up to 2009’s Australian Music Prize-nominated debut Innerspeaker, which topped both the M+N Critics and Readers polls for that year. First single ‘Elephant’ will be out soon, with the album expected out in October.
Like Innerspeaker, Lonerism was recorded and produced almost entirely by frontman Kevin Parker in "studios, planes, hotels and homes around the world", and later mixed by Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, MGMT).
