‘Hi Nostalgia, Meet Zeitgeist’: Meredith Reveals First Two Acts

The first two acts have been announced for this year’s Meredith Music Festival – and true to the festival’s eclectic nature, they couldn’t be more different.
Playing the Supernatural Amphitheatre on Friday night will be 24-year-old pop sensation Grimes (aka Vancouver native Claire Boucher) and the reunited Sunnyboys, who last played in Victoria when Boucher was aged three.
It’ll be Grimes’ first visit to Australia, while the original line-up of “Australia’s most special band” The Sunnyboys recently reunited for The Hoodoo Gurus Dig It Up! invitational in Sydney. Speaking to M+N ahead of the announcement, guitarist Richard Burgman admitted he wasn’t that familiar with Meredith, having lived in Canada for the festival’s entire 22-year existence.
“I had no idea what Meredith was,” Burgman said. “So I looked it up, and it looks to be a remarkable festival. It’s a great location, it’s got great policies and it’s had some amazing artists play there, so we thought it’d be great to play there.”
The ticket ballot opens today via the Meredith website. It'll take place over two rounds – on or before August 15 for existing subscribers and August 23 for newer subscribers – prior to tickets going on public sale. Tickets remain fixed at $279 plus booking fees.
Meredith will take place from December 7 to 9.

why not, its free. You only win a chance to buy tickets, you don't have to do anything if you win, and someone else will get a shot in the second round.
Would also assume that there would be more bands announced before/when the ballots actually drawn.
