The Pizza Oven Is Complete: New Drones In 2013

The long-awaited Drones fifth album will be out in early 2013, according to the latest Facebook missive from the band.
Writing to their 6000-plus fans, the Melbourne four-piece said they’re currently in the studio laying down tracks for the follow-up to 2008’s Australian Music Prize-nominated Havilah. The band also promised a tour accompanying the release, which certainly bodes well for a rumoured appearance at All Tomorrow’s Parties, which may or may not take place at Mt Buller in February. “You will be getting lots of The Drones in the coming months,” the post read.
In an interview with M+N last year, frontman Gareth Liddiard said a new album was being held up by the construction of a pizza oven on his central Victorian property, solo albums by himself and drummer Mike Noga and the release of live DVD A Thousand Mistakes. He said he was planning something a bit different for the new record. “I get bored really easy,” Liddiard said, “so I hate to do things the same. And if you try to do something twice you can never top it again.”

Oh well, whatever it ends up sounding like I'm sure it'll be highly oregano. (Is that how that's spelt?) My playlist has never had mushroom for this band. They're too base.
