Forthcoming: King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard

News posted Thursday, August 2 2012 at 12:00 PM.
Related: King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard.

What: 12 Bar Bruise by King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard.

When: September 7 through new Melbourne imprint Flightless.

Key notes: Debut album for Victorian psych-surf seven-piece, who hail from Deni, Anglesea, Jan Juc, Ocean Grove and Melbourne. Produced by Rocket Science guitarist Paul Maybury, who previously worked on the band’s Willoughby’s Beach EP. Recorded at the end of March between Anglesea and Maybury’s warehouse studio in Fairfield, Melbourne. Features an ’80s Casio toy keyboard, which “finds a place on almost every song”, and guest vocals by Dingoes frontman Broderick Smith (Harmonica player Ambrose Kenny-Smith’s father) on ‘Sam Cherry’s Last Shot’.

From the presser: “It’s filled with energetic slabs of psych-garage, ocker wit and the type of scuzzed out hysteria that picks you up and hurls you down bluntly without permission.”
