Listen: Ghoul Posthumously Releases ‘The Ladder’

Music from Ghoul’s unfinished debut album has unexpectedly surfaced on Soundcloud.

The promising Sydney four-piece called it a day after four years in January, but have decided to release an incomplete track called ‘The Ladder’ from what was supposed to be the follow-up to their 2010 mini-album Dunks. Sparse and moody, it showcases the immense vocal range of singer Ivan Vizintin, as well as deft interplay from bandmates Andrew Hannaford, Pavle Vizintin and Anthony Warwick.

Dunks was supposed to act as a teaser for a full-length release in 2012, but that was put on a hold, with the band choosing to release a single, ‘Lodum Rising’, instead. No reasons were given for the band’s split, with the members thanking their fans via Twitter and Facebook: “Thanks for coming to shows, buying CDs and letting us post R&B videos,” they wrote.

I am still so very sad about Ghoul disappearing, incredible band. Hope the people involved get to perform/record again someday soon
