Forthcoming: NO ZU

News posted Wednesday, August 8 2012 at 09:00 AM.
Related: No Zu, Sensory Projects.

What: Life by NO ZU.

When: August 31 through Sensory Projects.

Key notes: Debut album for heady Melbourne art-funk troupe, who played Vivid Sydney in June and contributed the “Preston to Coburg and The Global Erotic Mix” to the M+N mixtape series. Band founded in 2007 as a recording project for Nicolaas Oogjes (ex-TTT and Tantrums) and has since included members of World’s End Press, Rat Vs. Possum and TTT, as well as latest Children Collide drummer Mitch McGregor. Follows 2011’s New Age EP on New Weird Australia. Sleeve and cover artwork by Jordan Dolheguy at Totem Visual, who describes it as “sex at Woolworths.” Heralded by the slinky single ‘Emotion’ and its unnerving clip shot in regional Victoria’s South Werribee (watch below).

From the presser: “NO ZU have emerged in the past couple of years as one of the most fascinating and vibrant bands of their era, applying influences from funk and dance, post-punk and house to create infectious and euphoric sounds.”
