If you think there’s nothing novel about seeing a wasted bogan raise hell all over town, behold the dickhead (literally) who stars in Drunk Mums’ new clip. To the strains of the Melbourne garage quartet’s ‘Rubbing Your Gums’, we follow the protagonist as he starts the day on the toilet, stumbles to the pub and then gets into increasingly more trouble as the night rolls along. By the end, where else can it go but graphic sex with inflatable genitalia and a touch of cannibalism?

Directed and filmed by Jack Riddle of fellow Melbourne-via-Cairns garage band Beware Wolf, the clip was shot across Melbourne’s inner-west, including Footscray. For those keeping score, it’s Drunk Mums’ second clip to prominently feature a VB shirt, after ‘Eventual Ghost’.

‘Rubbing Your Gums’ is the lead single from the band’s self-titled debut LP, due later this month through Gaga Digi with a limited run of vinyl. The bratty and bristling song, which nevertheless slows down and sweetens up at the two-minute mark, was launched in June with a sold-out gig. Drunk Mums have toured with Bleeding Knees Club this year and won a spot on Laneway Melbourne back in February, where they channelled a “Ween/Rolling Stones bedroom tapes vibe.”

Next up for the self-confessed bogan band is Brisbane’s Big Sound in September, with an album launch tour to follow shortly after. For now, behold a clip that’s only NSFW if your workplace frowns upon the inevitable union of oversized sexual headgear.
