Melbourne Music Week First Announcement

Melbourne Music Week have offered us a “first peak” into their program for 2012 – and it’s good news if you’re into cult Italian prog-rock acts from the ’70s.

Goblin – best known for their soundtracks to Dario Argento’s films – will make their Australian debut at the festival, which will take place across the CBD in November. Other acts include French synth-rock duo Housse de Racket, LA-based electronic music producer and performer Eskmo, San Francisco-based trio PillowTalk, Teengirl Fantasy from the US, and locals including Collarbones, Crayon Fields, Twerps and Kirin J Callinan.

About 90 events, including concerts, workshops and screenings, will form part of this year’s Melbourne Music Week. They include: Where?House, a new concept which will see an iconic space transformed into a flagship pop-up venue; and the return of the Labels series, featuring showcases by the likes of Siberia Records, Cutters Records, Two Bright Lakes and Chapter Music, who will celebrate their 20th anniversary with a full-day show.

More Melbourne Music Week acts, concerts and events will be announced on September 19 when selected tickets go on sale. Full program details will be announced on October 3. For further details and updates click here.

Watching primitive calculators clear the room has been worth the price of admission.
