– The Exploders are touring for the first time in over three years to support their over-the-top new album Orche.Stratos.Pheric, out now on Rubber Records. The record’s “bizarre mash of myth, modern life, wives tale [and] proverb” has been confirmed by the lead single ‘Hey Fucker’ and its new follow-up, ‘Soul Kid’. The five-piece band – including Louis Macklin (Jet, 67 Special) and The Sleepy Jackson’s Malcolm Clark and J Cortez – are doing three dates each in Victoria and West Australia.

– Adelaide quartet City Riots embrace reverb and falsetto on their new single 'Wait For You’, a song that’s been likened to The Horrors, Beach Fossils and Real Estate. It’s a preview of the band’s debut album, coming in late October. After penning close to 40 new tunes last summer at a “family shack in the river land of South Australia,” City Riots spent a month recording in Melbourne with Woody Annison (Children Collide). They’re launching the single in three cities after a hometown support slot this week for fellow Annison-produced youths Hunting Grounds.

– No, Batrider’s Sarah Mary Chadwick isn’t a mother-to-be. But her debut solo album is indeed called Eating For Two. She’s launching it with a stack of impressive support acts, including Old Mate, Holy Balm and Convent, a project from Circle Pit’s Angela Bermuda. Following six albums and 10 years in Batrider, who were based everywhere from Auckland and Melbourne to London and Adelaide, Chadwick is now living in Melbourne again and has stripped back her downcast songwriting more than ever. Eating For Two comes out next Friday (Aug. 24) on Bedroom Suck.

– After spending months “barricaded in the studio with bouzoukis, tambourines, xylophones and an Omnichord,” Brisbane’s We All Want To have emerged with their second album, Come Up Invisible. Out Aug. 27 on Plus One, the album’s vocal interplay between Skye Staniford and former Screamfeeder frontman Tim Steward reportedly puts it in the vein of Richard & Linda Thompson or The New Pornographers. The band will tour nationally behind the LP in October.
