Listen: New Twerps

Ahead of their first headlining tour of the US, breakout Melbourne band Twerps have shared the new tune 'He's In Stock'. The melody-sloshed winner is the B-side of a 7" coming out via Chapter Music/Underwater Peoples on Sept. 17 (digitally) and Oct. 23 (physically), with the A-side 'Work It Out' and another B-side, 'Recall'. It's short and (bitter)sweet, with breezy talk of drugs being dropped off and mothers "giving me the shits nonstop." It's also, with Twerps' trademark casual cool, one of the best things they've done yet.

The band sold out gigs in Melbourne and Sydney early this month and have been announced for this year's Meredith. Before heading to the US in October, they're playing Newcastle's Sound Summit and the Brisbane Festival in September as well as hitting the Beach Road Hotel in Bondi on Sept. 12 with Melodie Nelson and Day Ravies. Last year's self-titled LP came in at #10 in our annual Critics Poll.

just heard it then whilst waiting to drop my car off - I stayed in the car until the song ended -it was that good!

On the radio, Eple?

yeah, it's cool to see them straight on pitchfork's radar. would hate to see all these aus bands get picked up then forgotten for their follow up releases.

I reckon the bands time has come. When you get Triple M Footy quoting himbos coming to Twerps gigs at the Tote it's probably time you start booking the Corner. Couldn't happen to a better band and that new song is the shizz.

Interesting social analysis. I was at one of the recent tote gigs, and I thought the crowd was exactly how I imagined a indie crowd would be in 2012. In short, I didn't notice any ''Triple M Footy quoting himbos'' in the crowd. Wait, maybe you're referring to me? I might have mentioned the footy? I've never listened to triple M in my life, but I was really really high at this gig so who knows? I am exceptionally good looking?

Anyway, great band and new song sounds good. Someone word me up when the 7'' gets pressed.

steveholt  said about 8 months ago:

No these blokes kept shouting out ''Get Around Him'' at every opportunity and were clearly dressed by General Pants and not Savers like the rest of the crowd. Sure sign the Pitchfork crowd are on board with the band. Which is great, all strength to the Twerps arm.

i've been wearing overpriced designer scandinavian clothes to twerps gigs for years ya bozo.

brody  said about 8 months ago:
