Laneway has announced its 2013 line-up, and as usual it's strong on zeitgeist-y acts, from Alt-J to Jessie Ware to ‘Shivers’-covering Wolf Parade/Spoon offshoot Divine Fits. Australian acts include Alpine, Chet Faker, Flume, Henry Wagons, Pond (pictured), Twerps, The Rubens and Snakadaktal. Other notable additions range from powerhouse US rapper El-P of Company Flow fame to minimal-minded producer Nicolas Jaar to the anthemic likes of Cloud Nothings, The Men and Japandroids. Hmm, the stuff I'm most interested in here (Julia Holter, Nicolas Jaar, Perfume Genius) would be better seen as sideshows than at a festival, so a bit on the fence about it this year. Still, another pretty solid line-up.
I'm pretty impressed by the summer festival lineups, and pretty disappointed that I won't be in the country to go to any of them.
i feel so out of touch with what is going on at the moment...i have only heard music of 4 of those bands.
I don't think I can be bothered going to this festival anymore, but this is the best line-up they've done in ages. And I'm really glad The Men are coming out here.
bat for lashes i really wanna see, but maybe solo rather than in festivus environment.
Who are all these bands?!?!
yeah, there's nothing like a laneway line-up to make me feel like i missed a whooole bunch of shit
What are these ''side shows'' people are talking about. I live in Adelaide and this concept is not familiar to me.
I'd definitely go to see Julia Holter & El-P anyway, plus always happy for there to be a bunch of unfamiliar things at Laneway, usually discover something new that I like.
i reeeeeeeally hope they put holy other on after sunset
2 weeks before ATP. How much impact will it have on ticket sales?
depends, is your target ticket buyer above or below 30?
GREAT LINEUP!
pumped for Cloud Nothings, El-P, Polica, Real Estate, The Men, Yeasayer, Alpine. The rest is enough to keep me entertained for the day.
Summer of festivals continues.
bit underwhealmed, but wouldn't say no to a freebie.
I thought Cat Power was a supposed chance for this??
also, who headlines from that list?
set times are also in alphabetical order
the Auckland leg gets Bailterspace!
The Men!
yay!
Alt-Ware and Jessie J!
That's enough to get me there. Could actually see Flume closing the main stage considering how much he has blown up lately.
presale at 9am
How much are tickets going for this year?
with all the fees and registered post included, $146
what's the rationale behind no sideshows for japandroids?
why do they hate us?
Their stage show is too elaborate for most venues in Australia.
it's sometimes hard to conceive of how popular Flume actually is.
