Exclusive: Lost Race Festival Line-Up

Brisbane “un-pop” label Lost Race has thrown its hat into the festival ring with an eponymous day-long bash set for its home city next month. Lost Race Festival will unite fringe-y bands of all stripes from Brisbane and Sydney, kicking off at 2pm Saturday Nov. 17 at Coorparoo Bowls Club. The first 150 tickets are $15 via Bandcamp, after which it’s $20 on the door.

Running the gamut from garage and dream-pop to post-punk and all manner of electronics, the nearly dozen-and-a-half acts include Lost Race cohorts Cobwebbs and Nite Fields – both launching new releases – as well as Day Ravies (pictured), Blank Realm, Secret Birds, Dreamtime, Occults, Naked Maja and many more. There are side projects galore, from Four Door (members of Holy Balm and Naked on the Vague) and No Art drummer Charles Buddy Daabul’s solo work with guitar to Greg Boring (members of Sky Needle and Cured Pink) and the collaboration of Pale Earth and Subsea on an “ambient-beat set.” Oh, and not a single band from Melbourne, though Carlton will be on tap for $3.

Started just last year, Lost Race Records has already put out releases by Happy New Year, Nite Fields and Caterpillar Hood, and has organised shows for touring bands like HTRK, Zola Jesus and Naked on the Vague. Full fest line-up below.
