M+N Mixtape #14: Maggot Fest III

Organiser and longtime M+N contributor Tim Scott has assembled a 10-band mixtape in the lead-up to this weekend’s Maggot Fest III. The fest spans two days at Collingwood’s Gasometer (Friday, November 2 and Saturday, November 3) and one in North Melbourne (Sunday, November 4) split between the record/comic store Wooly Bully by day and the nearby Town Hall Hotel by night. The 30-band bill includes overseas guests Useless Eaters (US) and The Raw Nerves (NZ) alongside a generous stack of acts from all over Australia.

The mix collects unreleased tracks and demos as well as selections from recent and forthcoming releases. Highlights include Taco Leg’s (pictured) short and to-the-point ‘Shut It Down’, Ratsak’s amped-up charger ‘Bullhead’ and Nun’s homage to disturbing filmmaker David Cronenberg (just in time for Halloween).
