Video Premiere: The Growl ‘Liarbird’

Bawling your eyes out while rowing interminably in a boat for one. That’s the lonesome ritual central to The Growl’s video for new single ‘Liarbird’. Band members – plus buddies from Tame Impala and an unexplained small child – let it all out while the crustily recorded lament fashions a makeshift hook from its plodding procession of piano and handclaps.

On the road with Tame Impala in North America as we speak, the bluesy Fremantle six-piece – led by throaty-voiced Cameron Avery – are readying their debut album What Would Christ Do?? for independent release through MGM on April 5. They’ve also just announced a national tour for April.

Like the previous single ‘Cleaver Leaver’, ‘Liarbird’ is blown-out and cathartic without being over-the-top about it. Strong men also cry, guys.
