Harvest Books Neutral Milk Hotel, Superchunk, Massive Attack, More

Talk about a blockbuster first line-up announcement: in its third year, Harvest has announced a bill that includes the hugely influential likes of Massive Attack, Franz Ferdinand, Primus, Neutral Milk Hotel and Superchunk (pictured), plus Conor Oberst’s Desparecidos, Goldfrapp, Eels, CSS, Black Rebel Motorcycle, The Wallflowers and Canada’s Walk Off the Earth.

Never exactly a boon for Australian bands, Harvest’s first round features only The Drones on that front. But hey, that’s a big one.

Harvest will come through Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane this November, including a new venue for Sydney. Tickets go on sale Friday, July 12 here.

Sunday, November 10: Werribee Park, Melbourne, VIC
Saturday, November 16: The Domain, Sydney, NSW
Sunday, November 17: City Botanic Gardens, Brisbane, QLD

What's the chance of Superchunk doing sideshows...?

Anyone?

By the way: Laura is no longer playing live with Superchunk, due to ear problems. FWIW.

Who's playing bass?

GrantleyBuffalo  said about 10 months ago:

Dunno. Check the Merge site, was announced a few weeks ago.

Nostalgia ain't what it used to be.

My God. I just realised who Walk Off The Earth are!

Unbelievable. Why would you book them?
Makes The Wallflowers positively inspired.

anonymous  said about 10 months ago:

the vines also saying that mutemath are on the bill.

Maybe they'll just play that cover.

could be, but it's not in the presser or on the fest website

Yup, was just commenting, though I guess everything in the comments comes out a little bit like a accusation these days, whoops.

sideshows. superchunk sideshows. i need dates!

anonymous  said about 10 months ago:

its harvest, sideshows aren't a given.

slothman  said about 10 months ago:

i'm well aware of that. i DO NOT want to go to harvest, but i DESPERATELY want to see superchunk. a pub show in sydney would be especially appealing to me and me alone.

anonymous  said about 10 months ago:

That being said, i'm pretty sure superchunk aren't in the position of say , portishead two years ago, so there's more to be gained then lost by giving you the show you want.

slothman  said about 10 months ago:

fuck oath. i haven't waited since 1996 for superchunk to come back to australia just to have AJ Maddah tell me i've GOT to pay top dollar to see them on the same bill as the eels and primus.

it's a bring down!

eucalyptus  said about 10 months ago:

NMH + Eels + BRMC + Drones = me attending.

This. Plus I'd have to go to a festival in Melbourne.

slothman  said about 10 months ago:

i'm not dismissing attending Harvest, i don't want to give that impression. but if it was a one off Ween/DVDA line-up i would still be asking about sideshows. #neverforget
