M+N Critics Poll 2012
Comment I Made about 5 months ago
no Ian Rogers votes?
I didn't vote because I forgot. Also, I've spent half the year living in a foreign country (Germany which is even more foreign to M&N than Brisbane) so no biggie. If I have anything to add it would be: Blacklevel Embassy's 'New Veteran' is really great and you should listen to it. IKR

Hey there, Well mid November is now Monday. We've made the executive decision to start the presale for our next album this coming Monday morning. Presale will go for two weeks with the release date set for Monday 26th November. We'll have details on Monday of limited deluxe editions and the chance to win a one off super-alotofpeoplehavebustedtheirasstoputthistogether version of the album. If you're on our mailing list, you will get the heads up first. Stay tuned. Alex.

There's no 'sustainable model' for anyone any more. There's just what works now and what might work in the future. That's the only way to judge the merit of something like this. I kinda wrote about it here. Crowd sourcing has potential. It can used to fund shitty indie pop soloists or radical adults like Dead. A pretty easy choice you'd think but no..

Discussion I Made about 10 months ago

Heads up that Alex from Brisbane band No Anchor will be in Melbourne next week displaying some of his art in this group show at Paradise Hills Gallery in Richmond.
He'll be showing original cover art done for Harmony, Kellie Lloyd, Heinz Riegler. Also work done of Melb/Bris hardcore band Teargas and a woodcut print made using a Fender Telecaster guitar.
All the relevant info is in the above invite. More can be found at the Facebook Event or Alex's Blog.
Hard-Earned Tax Dollars For Death Metal? Cue Outrage!

The Aus Council is policy bound to support a diverse range of contemporary music. They're supposed to support metal just like anything else. A projected budget is required. They would have had to show a breakdown of where the 20K went and I'm sure the orchestra (which in turn supports classical musicians as well) played a part.
I don't work for Aus Co PS. I'm just a dork for this particular topic. And I've applied for grants.
Grants are great.

God I'd love to sit down onstage like that. PS: 100% endorsement and positive vibes to Aus Council for not backing down on this.
Great Brisbane bands M+N don't write about

M&N, I will write about any of the above bands for money. Do you need content? If you need to SAVE FACE, email me - Ian.
PS: Daz, to be honest, the coverage is fine considering how often those bands listed tour and their profile up here.
