Lace Curtain Back Already With Second EP

Comment I Made 20 hours ago

The band are distributing this record to stores in Australia. Repressed Records in Sydney will have copies by the end of next week. Should be cheaper in stores here than ordering direct from the label.

Not saying ineptness/gimmick bands should be supported across the board or if this really has much to do with much at all in this thread BUT some of the best bands ever are talentless joke bands. A example being The Urinals... ''The band's first performance, in 1978, was a parody of punk rock performed for a talent show at their UCLA dorm.'' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urinals_(band) . They would eventually become 100 Flowers who played a tighter/more pulsing take on minimal art punk. I'd say a lot of the best bands ever had very limited chops in the beginning (and then I guess develop their own musical language as opposed to becoming a better musician in the traditional sense) and were on the verge of ''taking the piss'' as a form of pissing off the dominant music culture at the time.

The Stooges, started off as what sounds like a pretty hokey performance art band, wrote most of the first album in the studio. Also...

Flipper
Germs
Electric Eels
The Shadow Ring
DNA
Black Randy & The Metrosquad
Country Teasers
Harry Pussy
Fang
VOM
Brainbombs LOW LIFE (common' the Sydney Darbs 7'' is undeniably great)

Sydney 'Scene'

I feel dumb for adding to this but just wanted to say that I aka ''RIP'' has booked two shows in Sydney this year (BWBB show and a show for Red Red Krovvy), there was not very many in 2012 either. Just to clear any confusion here is a list of the records RIP has actually put out... http://www.discogs.com/label/R.I.P+Society And here's a short run down on some new bands from last year that RIP Society ''backs hard''... http://crawlspacemagazine.com/2012/12/14/2012-in-review-artists-and-crawlspace-editors/5/

I don't know what people think the ''RIP scene'' is but I don't think I'm all that involved in it :-(

Report: Dig It Up! 2013, Sydney

Blue Oyster Cult are from Long Island, New York and were the best band. More in the tradition of real rock n roll than a bunch of paisleys. The comedy was my next favourite thing. Fun day.
