Hey Gordon, I went back and read more reviews of the LS100. The most common complaint is stuff they could probably fix with firmware updates, but probably won't because it'd require a manual rewrite etc — the user interface, particularly with regard to recording (every time you press record it's like a 4-step process before it actually happens). Also the battery is not standard AA.

The only context in which it's really called for, to be honest, is field recording. Because the extra information is really handy when you're slowing shit down heaps and stuff.

Last point is true! But yes, looking at SGH's patterns... the hypercardioid has a much more pronounced sensitivity to the stuff directly behind it.

Read some reviews of that Olympus and they weren't as complimentary as they were toward more established field equipment (Sony PCM-M10, PCM-D50, Marantz etc)... but maybe I'll look at a few more.

All About Me

‘‘I don't like men, I'm very attracted to women, but everything else about me seems to be the same traits as any gay person. So everything I do, any time I wear tight jeans, any time I say I like art or I'm into architecture or furniture, people say ‘You're gay'. And I say the definition of gay is to like men, I think. I can wear all the pink shirts I like. A lot of people on the art side of pop art have been homosexuals who've made visual pop art. I just so happen to be heterosexual. Gay is used as such a negative thing. With all the gay people I'm friends with, they're the most talented people in the world. They create stuff that way surpasses most heterosexual people. Gay should have a positive connotation. If someone shows me a piece of art I'll be like ‘Wow, that's so good it's almost gay'. Like Keith Haring and Andy Warhol - what about them?''
