I'm quitting my job today...

Comment I Made 8 hours ago

This is very much happening Monday morning, and not a minute too soon. New job will be awesome, however I have slightly mixed feelings given it has taken almost six months from handing in my application to actually landing the damn thing (including being told I didn't have it on two separate occasions, three months apart).

Anyone get a recording of this? In retrospect I reckon Lasse's set was one of the best thing I saw/heard all year!

Set Times For ATP Melbourne

Ben Frost on at the same time as the Swans? That's pretty cray. I kinda think they'll have to change that. Um. Geeze.

Yeah, this clash made me pretty sad. Any petition I can sign to get that swapped around?

West of Memphis (2012)

Exceptional documentary from Amy Berg, depecting the ongoing situation involving the Memphis Three. I can't really think of much else to write aside from that between this and Deliver Us From Evil she is swiftly becoming my favourite documentarian, skilfully presenting her understanding of the facts and the current situation, and leaving the viewer with a strong sense of anger active in a couple of different directions.

Dreams of a Life (2011)

Disappointing and unsatisfactory docudrama exploring the life and death of Joyce Carol Vincent, a London woman notable only for the circumstances of her death: dying in her bedsit (overlooking a shopping mall in North London) of natural causes in late 2003; she was not discovered until three years later.

While a fascinating and horrifying story, it is problematic to try and wring 90 minutes out of the life of someone who is most notable for her lack of intimate human relationships. I would have preferred much less of the ''she looked well fit and all my mates wanted her'' and more an exploration on how someone can not pay any rent or bills for three years and not be noticed, evicted or even cut off.

watched this on the weekend and quite enjoyed it; although the copy I was checking out had no subtitles for the Italian dialogue. Spent half of the film finding this quite charming and assuming it was deliberate, allowing a shared point of view as Toby Jones becomes increasingly confused by his surroundings.

By the end when everyone was speaking Italian it suddenly dawned on me that maybe all the italian dialogue was intended to be subtitled after all....
