Appreciate. Saw 'em at Chopped. Modern people doing blues 99.9% of the time utterly shits me, (Lanie Lane from the night before I'm looking at you - could it have hurt to get a rhythm section? - sure you can sing but I aint feelin' it) but Chris Russell - man, that dude evidently lives, breathes, loves & respects that stuff, makes the audience love and respect the music along with him. Aint no 'style' thing for him. Plays a dano too. Nice.

Saw this band play - enjoyed them - it was very much what I dig, but thought there were too many people in the band. It was the small stage I saw them on - perhaps it would work better on a big festival stage, which they seem headed for

Listening to this though -- there seems to be way too much going on, a lack of focus. Sure some good riffs and ideas but then they just get lost and each song seems to peter out and go nowhere. The overdriven vocals unfortunately make it sound very modern and self consciously lofi with hifi production.

Lose a guitarist, harmonica player and possibly theremin 'player' and they would have more impact.

The media release talking points around this band shit me -- surf? can't hear it. casio? can't hear it. (much)

As a fan of the band I'm kinda disappointed with this record. That said - they'll be 'big' and I'll still be an old fart.
