I thought the title read 'Total Control Make Sub Par Record' for a moment there.

Gow mostly sticks with a small collection of sounds – guitar, bass, drums, keys, with the addition of Hammond organ and flute by legendary Los Lobos member Steve Berlin on ‘Pilgrim’s Blues’ and ‘Deep Heat’, respectively.

No mention of the brass that is all over this album?

Judging by those excerpts... I am very, very, very glad the Oceans Apart songs have been re-done.
