If your street already has Telstra/Optus cable, yes you can still buy a service. The HFC network won't be decommissioned for a while yet, even in NBN serviced areas.

You can't get a package with just Football - you need to take a basic package + sports. Setanta play a lot of international Football but you can only get it through Telstra/Foxtel direct, not Optus.
