A Song Of Ice And Fire (Game of Thrones) BOOK SERIES

Slothman, if I wasn't such a Bokononist, it'd bug me that you keep writing 'Tramalfordian' rather than 'Tramalfadorian'. But, you know, and so it goes.

I'm not sure any of these things will actually end up happening.

From the westeros wiki: ''Martin confirmed in March 2012 that the final two novels will take readers further north than any of the previous books: ''What lies really north in my books—we haven't explored that yet, but we will in the last two books.''[2] He added, ''you're definitely going to see more of the Others''.[2]''

And surely the whole Daenerys plotline has to eventually connect up with everyone else...

But yes, GRRM is cruel like that.

Yeah, Arya going to Braavos and learning to become an assassin is very interesting. I mean, surely the Kindly Man will instruct her to assassinate people in Westeros, and I suspect is probably in cahoots with the Braavos bank? Eventually, she'll have to be instructed to assassinate someone big and important that we're meant to love - Dany or Tyrion or Jon - and wrestle with the ethical dilemma. (Otherwise why bother with the storyline?)

I got the impression Melisandre, being the fire god priestess woman, was probably most of why Stannis went up to the wall because she wants to fight the others - her fire and the ice of the white walkers seem in natural opposition (the ice and fire of the title of the series?)

MASSIVE SPOILERS IN THIS POST.

Very curious about where the series will go in the next couple of books. I mean, clearly, two things are about to happen. 1) is that the white walkers are going to invade Westeros, and 2) is that Daenerys will invade Westeros with her Unsullied and dragons. These things will completely change the 'game of thrones' stuff.

(I was fine with all the new characters - I figured it was like how the Wire expanded to a new part of society each season)

Interesting questions we still need to know: Who is Jon Snow's mother (and possibly father, if you read the internet?) (he's not dead, because we'd know who he was first - RR's style is more the irony of us finding out right before it's too late for the information to be useful).

What's Mellisandre doing with Stannis? Is she trying to fight the white walkers? Or is she really trying to fight Bran (or are Bran's new friends and the white walkers related?)

Who's going to ride the other dragons? They'll need to have Targaryen blood so they'll be able to withstand the dragon heat and stuff like Daenerys can...is Little Griff going to be one, or is he a fake?

Stupid waiting til 2014. At least.

Stuart MacGill

If you ignore his last few tests when MacGill's hand was buggered, MacGill's average in tests when Warne wasn't there (injury, out of form, suspended, etc) was about 30. His average when Warne was there was about 20. Basically, when MacGill and Warne bowled in tandem, Warne kept things tight, and the batsmen felt they'd only really be able to score from MacGill, so they'd play shots and get out.

(In contrast, Warne's overall average was 25ish, and 29ish when MacGill was there). Warne in his prime was one of the best bowlers of all time. MacGill in his prime wasn't quite up there with Warne, but he was miles ahead of any spinner who has played for Australia since.

I'm a bit ashamed to realise (yes Ibtoo have been on a mass binge since the concert) anyway yeah.,.only just realizing that ''Little Old Lady From Pasadena'' and ''Two Girls For Every Boy'' were actually Jan & Dean songs although the Beach Boys did cover those songs. They are just so in their style I assumed they were theirs

Brian Wilson pretty much did write 'Surf City' (a.k.a. 2 girls for every boy). Murry was furious he gave it away and it was a #1!

My favourite Doug Wallen moment is the comments to this article on theVine. WALL*En was the best. (Congrats!)

Summer of Cricket 2012-13

Comment I Made about 11 months ago

Seemed to me that Australia were pretty much consistently let down by the batting in that series, and so the bowlers generally didn't have much to work with (one dayers being a game where having to push run rates etc is what undoes batsmen). But nobody cared too much about those games anyway. Curious how Australia A does, and interesting to see Hughes getting tons in English county cricket again with his new technique or whatever (along with Cowan and Khawaja).
