@zoothorns I had a similar thing happen to me in Bratislava. Cept the taxi driver locked the doors and wouldn't let me out for ages. Scary.
HOBART - where to play?

I would recommend making your presence known on the The Dwarf. They are a tough crowd over there, but if someone likes your music you might find some friends to help you out.
Contact these guys too: http://www.myspace.com/hobartmusicyeah

Having a good time in Hobart is all about having the right contacts. Which may sound like a wank, but it's true.

The Brisbane Hotel The Alley Cat
Or find someone to talk to who is interested in putting you on a bill in someone's house, or the Peacock Theatre, or another venue that is not a pub. That's where it's at in Hobart.

I live here by choice AND I was born here. I did the typical Hobart/Melbourne/OS dance for a few years before falling in love, getting married and adopting a cat.
It drives me completely bonkers and I probably will have to move away to find more work. But I do love it.
I mean, I'm sitting here right now looking across at the mountain. It's pretty sweet.

Dear Co-worker,
Congratulations! You are the biggest jerk I have ever had the misfortune to work with. Which is a high accolade because I've worked with a LOT of jerks over the years.
As if stealing our tips wasn't bad enough, you leave ridiculously early EVERY SINGLE SHIFT, pat the waitresses on the arse, treat the younger members of the team like they are idiots (they aren't), are rude to customers, bring your laptop to work and look at FB during service and yet somehow you've got the boss wrapped around your finger and have managed not to get fired even after complaints about sexual harrassment from other workers. HOW THIS WORKS I CANNOT COMPREHEND.
You don't know it, but I'm only here for another 4 weeks. THANK FUCK.
Ugh,
Pip
P.S. The kitchen staff think you're a jerk too.
