Anyone know of a good place to hire a vocal PA from in Melbs?

it started about 5 months ago... that cafe/bar/whatever started leasing the rotunda from council. council ran into funding trouble and had to cut back most/all of the entertainment they booked on the rotunda. those guys stepped in and offered to pay for sundays 'entertainment'. so they get to book that breaks shite. all the djs are so ridiculously coked off their tits (and not in a good way). it's sensationally fucked.

i love bbq breaks pumping out every sundy...it's even better when the djs and the solo acoustic covers guys try to be louder than each other...sweet, sweet. council have started to book rotunda again.....best to try the call centre

kuroneko - hence using the word 'effective'. sticking the show date on your myspace account (which is what alot of bands in recent times have been doing) and not doing anything else isn't good enough (in my opinion). bookers aren't evil, and contrary to popular belief we do realise that things cock up. We also have to deal with plugging the shiate out of shows on the venue's end and not having a full crowd. shit DOES happen, we are aware of that. But at the end of the day, is it really fair to expect that the venue booker/publicist be SOLELY responsible for the design/making of the poster, doing the poster run, writing the press release, organising the gig guide listings in street press and newspapers, organising interviews in street press and newspapers and radio, designing and sending off the street press advertising, plugging the show on all available internet forums, without ANY help from the band? butler - i absolutely agree. But again, what is so hard about bringing in some posters to the venue and sending the booker/publicist a press release and pic? it ain't brain science or rocket surgery

temporarybenbutler: DUH! that's my point dude. if you're asking whether i think that in 2005 there was a better quality of Australian material released, yes, i think there was. or are you referring to the amp 2005 list?

that's not my point ben...my point is that theres no point biatching about bands not making the short list if they didn't even apply...whinging about the judges is kind of pointless if there wasn't any quality of material to begin with, ya know? which is what i think the problem was; australian releases didn't do anything for me last year...might be why the short list looks so mediocre...

...in order to get a different list, you'd actually need the bands to apply to AMP in the first place....

i thought if it didn't float it meant your fibre intake was too low

...oh, and spencer + escape committee are super as well
