In terms of foreign policy they are far more influential imho, the interpreter is fairly even handed, but when it comes to their policy briefs i don't think that they're even handed.

However, having said that, you will see op ed pieces in newspapers from Lowy institute members speaking against our involvement in Iraq etc, but not in terms of their actual policy briefs.

Ugh, that isn't even remotely true.


if you look at their site and what they write about, there are a couple of pithy articles regarding civil liberties, whilst the overwhelming majority of articles concerning ''big govt'' have to do with corporate deregulation

that was my view of it, but have not followed/read about them of late, perhaps they have changed their tune
