haha nedb!

yep, it's finally sunk in for me. i now think this record is a killer. i still don't dig the singles heaps but MAN Hit Void and Sideman are gigantic hits imho. all the songs have so many interweaving melodies. the record reminds me of wanedering through a melted soundtrack of Can, Suicide, Early Stooges & even Birthday Party & MC5 in bits.

this one is a real grower dudes.

yeah - this record feels like a bunch of those odd b-sides & remixes. there are some really great songs in here but also feels like it's kind of lost its way a bit. i think it's growing on me though. not sure which version I have but that I Want You song has already been floating around for years.

i think it's an outrage that we can't vote for the Party! Party! Party! Party anymore

^ ^ on the flipside to my whining rant above - I also respect and admire anyone who seriously feels they want to do something serious about change the country for the better & to cop the inevitable flak that comes with it. many go into it with good intentions & along the way get caught up in peddling flawed party politics instead. whichever side of the fence they sit on, they're certainly a lot more courageous than me :)

Gillard is not a gifted leader. sadly she has 'interim leader' written all over her. remember, she snuck around & took the job by force. and for what? she & Abbott were both basically a photo finish at the last election, which is less than convincing for either party - so make of that what you will. Gillard has since turned off the independents who supported her into her current leadership. this is the softest, most lifeless & boring political rivalry this country has ever seen. neither side has the balls (sic) to do anything revolutionary for fear of alienating voters. weak. soft.

i'm politcally pissed off but ambivalent toward either of the major parties. I do however enjoy making snide one-liners about Gillard that suddenly bring out the maniacal religious zealot in my Labor-voting friends. oh, so precious :)

my girls are 8, 5 and 10mo respectively. the 8yo one - whoahh! seems like just a few months ago we were bringing her home from the hospital for the first time. goes so fast. i have no idea how to ''raise'' girls, but these girls (esp the older 2), while dependent on Mum etc for stuff are also pretty good buddies with me too. I work from home, so I'm kinda blessed with more day to day contact. I hope I can be there as someone they'll think to come to for chats when they need to negotiate the rough waters of teen stuff. seems schoolyard friendships at 8yo are hard enough to negotiate as it is! oh man.

in other news - turns out i've been running on a torn cartilage for the last 3+ years, hence my on again/off again activity due to inflammation/fluid-buildup/pain etc. my new knee doc will sort it out with a few stitches & he reckons I should be ''good as new''.

I went to a skate bowl today to remind myself of the enormity of the damage there & WHOAHH once again BAM it sure ain't what it used to be. landed one or two ollies over the lip but man the landings were pure hell.

looking forward to all the unicorns & rainbows that will appear before me after surgery.
