This is incredibly sad. Trish had a lovely time in Australia in December and was so happy to have finally made it over to play shows. She was in great spirit and overjoyed at meeting so many Broadcast fans.
If you wanna send any personal messages please email us (info@popfrenzy.com.au) and we'll pass it onto Broadcast's manager.

I know it's not ideal that the real die hard fans purchased their tickets early and now notice quite some randoms are going for free. We really had no choice. Tickets simply weren't selling and we were getting pressure from all sides to get more people in the venue.
I guess at least you know you're a real true fan which does mean something to the band and to us at Popfrenzy.
Thanks.

For those in Sydney we're putting on a special screening of the documentary Strange Powers: Stephin Merritt and the Magnetic Fields on Wednesday August 4th at the Chauvel cinema.
Tickets are on sale now via the Chauvel or our webstore.
Website/trailer: http://www.strangepowersfilm.com
Ten years in the making, Strange Powers is an intimate documentary portrait of songwriter Stephin Merritt and his band the Magnetic Fields.
With his unique gift for memorable melodies, lovelorn lyrics and wry musical stylings that blend classic Tin Pan Alley with modern sounds, Stephin Merritt has distinguished himself as one of contemporary pop’s most beloved and influential artists. Both a prolific recording artist and composer of theater and film scores, he performs most famously as the Magnetic Fields, whose 1999 three-disc opus 69 Love Songs is widely considered a masterpiece of traditional song craft and irresistible synthpop.
Strange Powers explores Merritt’s songwriting and recording process, and focuses on his relationships with his bandmates and his longtime manager, Claudia Gonson revealing an artist who has produced one of the most engaging and confounding bodies of work in the contemporary American songbook.
Popfrenzy is proud to present a very special one off screening of Strange Powers on Wednesday August 4th (7pm sharp) at the Chauvel Cinema.
Tickets available from www.popfrenzy.com.au or www.chauvelcinema.net.au $15 / $12 (FBI members)
Holly Miranda Australian Tour!
Discussion I Made about 3 years ago
Ok, I can't spell her name obviously...
HOLLY MIRANDA AUSTRALIAN 2010 TOUR
“Her voice is at times reminiscent of Kim Deal (if Deal actually had vocal range) and, at other times, of a scratchy, lyrically haunting Stevie Nicks. Consider this fair warning: she’s the real deal. Catch her while you can.” Vanity Fair
“luxurious soundscapes that bear comparison to Mazzy Star and Cocteau Twins.” The Australian
Popfrenzy is proud to announce the very first visit of American singer-songwriter and musician Holly Miranda. Invited by influential American rocker Lou Reed and critically acclaimed artist and musician Laurie Anderson to join the likes of Boris, Bardo Pond, My Brightest Diamond and King Khan for this years Vivid LIVE Festival; Miranda will also be performing shows in Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth.
You might have heard about Holly Miranda from a different source, like fan Kanye West. The hip-hop star pimped one of her tracks on his website over a year ago, and it wasn't long before hipster music blogs and even Vanity Fair joined in the bandgwagon. Her solo album “The Magician’s Private Library” (XL Recordings) was released early this year to rave reviews and led to support slots with The XX, Friendly Fires and The Antlers.
Miranda grew up singing in church, learning piano at age 6 and picking up the guitar at 14, around the time she began writing songs. After moving New York, she met the people she'd eventually refer to as bandmates for The Jealous Girlfriends, a reputable indie band that is currently on a break, but all continuing on their own musical pursuits.
The music Miranda makes is influenced by what she refers to as a combination of the things she grew up listening to. ''I love Jeff Buckley and Edith Piaf and Nina Simone. I grew up on Motown,'' Miranda said. But what most people compare her to are modern day chanteuses like Cat Power and Feist which she says she ''hears all the time.''
''Somebody the other day told me I sounded like Joni Mitchell,'' Miranda said. ''What? What are you smoking? Can I have some?'' ** HOLLY MIRANDA AUSTRALIAN TOUR**
