Flood show in Sydney was an absolute delight. I saw both gigs and was pissed that I hadn't heard about the Flood show before booking the first one, but I totally enjoyed both. Their more recent output has been a bit less my thing, I guess my taste's moved on and how many albums can you do of silly songs and sciencey songs? But even so, I enjoyed it all, and there was plenty of awesome old stuff from first 3-4 albums.

Problem I find with the Clara sequence is that it all seems so slapdash and arbitrary. The Doctor's being really weird, and quite creepily so really, and the characters even notice sometimes, but mainly they just fob it off. Clara thinks he's weird and wonders why he's latched on to her, but she also seems quite breezily happy to follow him around as companion.

I mean, apart from the shitty, shitty episodes. Agreed, this was best so far, and it was fairly lacking too. But at least it was kind of standard Doctor Who schmaltz woo-science nonsense with timey-wimey bits and not... whatever fuckedness the last couple were.

Oh and also, Moffat is clearly trying hard to keep to self-contained episodes (which is probably part of why the new-companion thing isn't really making sense), but can't help insert this silliness about the Doc trying to work out The Mystery Of Clara. It's pretty demeaning for Clara really (pretty explicitly in the text I think).
