Was just reminded of this band as I listened to the last track on the Lower Dens Nootropic album. I'll have to dig out the braille cdr tonight - haven't listened to it for years..... Did those live recordings mentioned above ever see the light of day?

personally, i was drawn along with it for the first half of the book and then got a little frustrated by the melodrama. however, i think the band name Young Werther relates to the songwriter: Mick Young. much like his first band: The Restless, possibly a Young and the Restless reference?

hi there, here's the press release for a show we're playing this saturday night. It'll be our (the steadfast shepherd's) last show in Aus before a tour to Japan in late June. Should be a fun night.....
The Steadfast Shepherd play Northcote Uniting Church Hall on Saturday May 24th This intimate show will be in the beautiful surrounds of the Northcote Uniting Church (circa 1870). There'll be a hot cup of tea for all comers, as well as a selection of cakes. So bring your blanket, and a cushion, and snuggle up to some warm sounds on a winters night!
Support on the night will be from Broken Flight and Young Werther.
Broken Flight will be entering the studio the following week to record their follow up to their beautiful debut album 'on wings, under waves'. 'Acoustic guitars strummed gently. Piano notes put over it carefully, as if it's checking its own position on the score. Tranquil voice and harmony.''
Young Werther is in the midst of an endless national tour promoting his mini-album 'Treasures' which made Beat Magazine's 'Single of the week': ''Young Werther ... play impassioned drifts of folk pop with heavy-hearted lyrics; beautiful in an aching sort of way. Delicate rivers of finger-picked guitar flow through the record....''

so... i think i'm going to turn this into a 'whats happening in Hobart' thread. hopefully a few hobartians might appreciate it, and maybe a few folks passing through town.... so, last night 'i built a flying machine' was great at the alley cat..... tonight, Matt McBeath plays the alley cat, Tuesday night, Off Minor (!) play at peacock theatre in Salamanca. next week, singlespeed mountainbike racing hits town......
