At Tommy Gun Records in Hobart there's the launch of the Hobart Improv Collective LP, recorded atop Mt Wellington and released through Rough Skies. There's two performances by the collective throughout the day.

No luck on the wall either. Oh well, not that keen to go to Sydney anyway.

Have tried Black Wire, no reply. Goodgod was a possibility but we can't afford the hire fee, sound-guy fee or the door bitch fee...

Sydney didn't want us. Well, they did, but wanted to charge us.

This September, get ready for the four boys from Hobart avant-punk band Naked as they take in a slew of dates along the East Coast. Having already headlined some of Hobart’s eminent live venues - as well as living rooms, alley ways, backyards and rooftops – and supporting the likes of Dick Diver, Pop Singles and The UV Race – Naked are set to bring their shambolic show to the mainland masses.
They’ve got a new drummer in Sam Harrison (Phat Meegz, myblackson) – the same guy who helped engineer their current release Recorded At Sam’s Place (cassette available through Rough Skies Records / Steamboat Records). Also under their belts, the digital-only albums Black Teeth, Marble Canine and the “ghost release” Coal Seam Jazz – from which they’ve hand-picked the best chunks for the live set. With a propensity for onstage arguing, sweet-pop harmonies, actual nudity and general debacle - make sure you catch Naked live before it all goes to shit.
Actually, they’re quite nice boys. It’s just that Hobart can barely contain them. Keep a keen eye out for Naked when they make it to your part of town.

“A soul-emptying vocal meets a scrappy guitar over strung-together drum beats, all playing at some kind of general unease - it’s hard to tell, the lyrics are inaudible.” - Max Easton, ‘Mess + Noise’
“At the start of the second song, a female audience member reached toward the stage and yanked Kieran’s footy shorts to the floor. He stepped out of his dacked article and threw himself, without being coy, without being self-conscious, into the rest of the song, his freed genitals bouncing and roiling as he sang and took a stick to pound a high-tom, hairy as the day he was born.” - Joel Hedrick, ‘Hold on to the Rail’
“i cannot believe you would advocate this nonsense. this is most definitely the worst music ever posted on this site, and i've been following you guys for a little over a year now. it sounds like all the children at a daycare center was given an object and was told to bang it on eveything and everyone within their reach. if you gave a monkey a plastic recorder and a drumstick, he could certainly find more rythm than this band. im sorry.” - Papadoc3450, ‘Earmilk’
