Bed Wettin' Bad Boys, or Le Enfant Terrible de Incontinente as they are known in French speaking countries, are three punks who play the loosest most shambolic racket you are likely to hear on record or stage. They are also brilliant. Or magnifique.

The record is split into two sides: “Best Band in Sydney” and “Worst Band in Sydney”; a cheeky response to the way they’ve polarised their hometown. Some people consider them nothing more than a joke because of their no frills, dumbed down approach, while others dig on their goodtime, instrument swapping vibe despite the fact that most of the time they are royally drunk and talk way too much shit between songs.

Joe Sukit, bassist for Royal Headache, sings on the “Best Side”, while Nic Warncock sings on the “Worst Side”. Both sound like Stink-era Replacements, which of course makes them both “Shit Hot” sides. With a snarling middle finger salute to everyone and everything, opener 'We Don't Want to Know' sounds like it could have been recorded in Minneapolis in 1982.

‘Waste of Time’, which opens with a squeal of distortion and a self-deprecating howl, is the best track on the record capturing everything the band is good at: loud, blown-out melody; loud, blown out non-melody; and playing drunk.

Recorded by David Akerman of Dead Farmers to 1/2 tape at Louie's Warehouse, the record captures the gruff, sincere, about-to-fall-over energy of their live show. When Warncott slurs, “You know it can't happen, but I want it to”, you can almost smell the spilt beer on his shirt.

Le Enfant Terrible de Incontinente as they are known in French speaking countries

That is terribly wrong, for starters ''Le Enfant'' should be ''L'Enfant''.

Australians are so fucking stupid. Can't wait til Indonesia or China takes over here.

FrankieTeardrop  said about 3 years ago:

Shouldn't it be Les enfants?

untold/animals  said about 3 years ago:

1/2 tape

Where's the other half?

Also, I guess it'd probably be Les Garçons Terrible or some merde.

untold/animals  said about 3 years ago:

Le ''mouiller son lit Bad Boys'' est ce que Google Translate dit, tu chattes cosmopolite.

jasmine.po  said about 3 years ago:

Les enfants

NO, BECAUSE THERE IS ONLY EVER ONE CHILD, AND THAT BITCH GOES BY THE SAME WHINY FUCKING NAME. DEATH TO CHILDREN!!!!!!!!!!!!

kittymunroe  said about 3 years ago:

Is Jasmine still living under the delusion of relevancy? Sigh.

Meanwhile, have to get my hands on a copy of this asap.

andydepressant  said about 3 years ago:

Sample track is a fucking sweet song! The Replacements, besides having some amazing songs, had the horrible habit of sounding like a guitar store/pub covers band production and playing wise sometimes. The rawness really captures the song unlike some other file-in-this-category-lo-fi where the rawness just masks that there isn't much of a song there to begin with.

boner m.  said about 3 years ago:

good post, andy

gonna pick this up soon

pretty much. i thought the songs were fuckin good and reminded me of the ramones so recorded them in a way that i thought did justice to that, instead of masking it in noise as is the trend these days. great record and it was super fun and easy to make

BED WETTIN' BAD BOYS
Sydney’s #1 party band are back in Melbourne launching their four track debut 7” on R.I.P Society Records. Think indie rock before indie rock meant you were a sweater wearing nerd (aka Replacements, Dinosaur Jr, Meat Puppets) with undertones of glam (more Slade than Bowie), power pop and hard rock. Held together by wild guitar, overdriven bass lines and a lewd, punk attitude (definitely not college rock).

SOUTHERN COMFORT
New band from Angela Bermuda (Circle Pit / Straight Arrows) and Harriet Hudson (Downtown / Circle Pit) playing timeless songs based around their hypnotic reverb soaked guitar sound and duel angelic vocals. A real Velvet Underground drone rock vibe with a classic rock/country flavour. First Melbourne tour!

WOOLLEN KITS
Local house band at the Empress for the weekend! These guys seem to get compared to is Beat Happening, which is fair and all but somewhat limiting. Woollen Kits surpass the “twee” thing because a) actually have good songs and b) they’ve got a stompin’ garage energy with some killer surf guitar lines. Would most likely appeal to fans of the Modern Lovers (i.e. pretty much everyone).

BITCH PREFECT
Three funs guys from Adelaide, one of which being the truly radical miracle that is Scott Ohara (also of Lindsey Low Hand). From the videos and all reports Pat and Liam are also totally bodacious dudes with moves worthy of your attention. Great off-beat, humbling guitar pop for fans of The Clean, Pavement, Eat Skull, Kitchen’s Floor.

Master of Ceremonies MARCUS RECHSTEINER of The UV Race will be hosting the event and helping everyone have a great time. With Marcus on board there is no doubt in my mind this will be a truly excellent rock show, one from the history books!

P.S. There’ll be a bunch of R.I.P Society Records releases on sale on the night. Alongside the new Bed Wettin’ Bad Boys 7” we’ll have the new Kitchen’s Floor - Regrets 7” for sale, a repress of Sydney garage-punks Straight Arrows debut 7” and the debut 7” from Royal Headache. BRING HEAPS OF MONEY

nic.rulz  said about 2 years ago:

Dear internet, this show will be the last Melbourne Bed Wettin' Bad Boys show in the ''classic'' 3 piece line-up. Also turn up early for Carborator, visiting Melbourne for the first time and featuring member of Dead Farmers, Royal Headache, Songs and BWBB's!!!

nic.rulz  said about 2 years ago:

Tonight! 7pm doors, first band at 8pm.

unvisible  said about 2 years ago:

What's happening to the ''classic'' 3 piece lineup? Stripping it back to a low-key acoustic duo? Adding a horn section in the hopes of another ska revival? Enquiring minds want to know.

nic.rulz  said about 2 years ago:

Two guitars (Ben and Joe), bass (Nic), drums (someone new). Maybe room for a few back up singers like in this video.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ywa4_ZsqtXA
