Tsk, 3rd thread for them...I would expect this from a Newbie, but you, HEB?!?
Look - it's all properly hyperlinked and everything.
Anyway, this is The Official * thread
;-p
* whatever that means
with every new thread i grow sookier...
So the two BIG questions are:
1. How many nights will they play? There are 8 days between the London and Manchester shows
2. Will they do warm-up shows?* There are a few ATP events they could play unannounced, just to make sure their official return is 'just so'...
i am goddamn green with envy. i hope they make it down here soon.
waits for MBV to be added to the Explosions ATP which he can actually go to
i am so going to this.
starts saving
fuck, i just got a friend in london onto this and agreed to go to london if she sorts tix tomorrow morning.
It's a cruel, cruel summer to be saving your pennies nicko - good luck with that...a very worthy cause, though
fucking hell... maybe we should all fucking move to England.
well - i still don't believe this thread even exists. I'll come back in a minute and see if it's still here...then it's straight to the travel agent..
so what do you reckon kids?..a grey-power M&N road trip?
What a difference 10 weeks makes...
maybe ATP haven't told them yet, and are just hoping they can convince them sometime in the next 7 months.
11 hours till we can get our Manchester tickets...
hmmmm i could be in europe around then...
you bloody brits get all the good bands :(
this is about when i was planning on going to england...
on sale at 8pm tonight (aedst).

When MBV first 'came back' they had Michael Brennan doing live sound for them.. he's 'famous' as Mogwai's mixer back when they were really freaking loud and also has done the last few Cure world tours..
I believe he is also the son of the guy who used to mix Ride / MBV / Primal Scream et al in the UK in the late 80s / early 90s.
I suspect he hasn't been doing the more recent shows though.. I didn't make it to the Enmore show, but the scale and PA spec people have described doesn't sound in line with what he was using when they first came back (nor with other bands)..
First time live listener. Not an uber mbv fan but love loveless. It was uber shoegaze music played the way it should. Thats all, it was super loud with enough dreaminess. Too many sooks about this band lately, both by non fans of the genre, and people too internally old to appreciate being at a social venue/event.
On the subject of plain riders, the bands have to pay for that shit, makes sense to keep it cheap.
If you've got a rider on a plane then money's no object.
Interesting article about why MBV didn't tour New Zealand. Lots of speculation, but the writer does comment about the sound engineer ''quitting'' at the Brisbane show...
That's put kind of weirdly, like they're such arseholes that he stormed off in disgust or something, which apparently wasn't the case at all.
I always find it odd when people say things like tour companies ''reward the fans'' or when people level accusations at touring companies along the lines of ''You only care about money''
No shit, dudes!
Anyone received their MBV vinyl yet? I haven't.
Mine arrived today. Postie just left it on the verandah. Luckily my housemate was home and spotted it before the sun cooked it.
Mine arrived today. Postie just left it on the verandah.
Hopefully mine will arrive today. Postie will just leave it on the verandah.
At least it's not 38 degrees today, though.
Good. Hopefully mine will be left on the verandah too!
warped vinyl might straighten the sounds within...
Mine was also left on the verandah, some sort of Shieldsian conspiracy?
Sounds fucking great btw.
Mine arrived day before yesterday and yeah postie left it on the verandah, which is luckily shaded. now i need to buy an amp, speakers and a record player. i've not had one since the 80s
I got mine in the mail today. As everyone's been complaining about on the band's site, it was packed in too large a box so everything was kind of rolling around inside. Despite that, no damage done though. The sleeve printing job looks really cheap, but the art's nothing to rave about anyway so who cares.
Mine came with a split seam. Nothing shits me more. Not hard to take the vinyl out of the sleeve and put a bit of extra cardboard to stiffen the packaging let alone getting a box the right size.
Minimal effort with the sleeve, artwork pretty work, but it's still a great record so I suppose that's all that matters.
Yeah, for a band that prides itself on sonic presentation this is one of the most perfunctory releases I've seen. Still, killer album and it's nice to hold the artwork. And 180gms of vinyl is 180gms of vinyl.
mine was almost entirely undamaged! flabbergasted
yeah the printing is appalling
It was almost like they waited 20 years then threw it together in 20 minutes.
