Spooks

elle-zo  said about 5 years ago  or at  11:50PM on Thursday, January 1 2009 in television

no love for this awesome spy series set in London?

I'm watching the latest series... it is incredible. So up to the minute with current events.

And all the lead spooks are hott.

Is this the last one when the Ruskies were the baddies and they killed off ....... in a car bomb in the first ep?

elle-zo  said about 5 years ago:

yes, I've just watched Ep1-4. Adam Carter got blown up, aka Rupert Penry-Jones, you mean?

And they've brought in an MI5 agent who had been tortured by the Russians for the last 8 years...

Have no idea what Spooks series Australian TV is up to - Two or Three I think. Made for a sobering comparison when I accidentally caught an episode of Macleod's Daughters over Christmas. Wooden acting, dialogue written by primary school kids... FFS

HEB  said about 5 years ago:

I was deliberately avoiding spoilers elle-zo

Wait till you find out who the Sugarhorse mole is
And some more MI5 agents die

Section D has a terrible mortality rate for public servants

It's pure bunkum, but the last season (7 I think) was the best for ages

HEB  said about 5 years ago:

But nowhere near as much bunkum as Spook Kids - aka Spook Club 9

devines  said about 5 years ago:

i like it lots.

aloha  said about 5 years ago:

keeley hawes is pretty hot.

if only it didn't become ridiculous.

devines  said about 5 years ago:

yes. keely hawes is hot. she is married in real life to mathew macfayden who was in it too.

HEB  said about 5 years ago:

And they both left in Season Three
Along with Danny

Only Harry Pearce remains

Season Eight is in pre-production

elle-zo  said about 5 years ago:

Wait till you find out who the Sugarhorse mole is

O M G

no way...!

__v  said about 5 years ago:

i think the most recent series of spooks is the best yet, and i've been watching it since day one

they have the team exactly right, and the stories have been a lot of fun, even the high finance one which could have been dopey.

well done spooks.

the ''spooks: code 9'' spin off sucked massive amounts

__v  said about 5 years ago:

never liked rupert penry-jones, now like richard armitage a great deal

also roz is much better as a team leader figure

yep

elle-zo  said about 5 years ago:

word, __v

HEB  said about 5 years ago:

RP-J has said in interviews he was never really comfortable taking over the lead from MMcF
Hence his lack of interest in being Doctor # 11

RA has slipped in nicely
And it's a much better vehicle for him than the baddie on Robin Hood

specialgirl  said about 5 years ago:

oh yeahhhhhh.

great show

HEB  said about 5 years ago:

Needless picture posting

Avoid....

mealzebub  said about 5 years ago:

No love for Roz, __v. Too whippet-like.

CaptainFez  said about 5 years ago:

Mealz: don't you mean that other blonde piece? I thought Roz was the brunette one?

Lucydiamond  said about 5 years ago:

This is Ros...

elle-zo  said about 5 years ago:

i have one episode left to watch of series 7.

i want to watch it, but then it will be over. how long can i prolong the anticipation before i cave in?

i'm giving myself less than 24 hours

CaptainFez  said about 5 years ago:

As you were. I hate that woman too. My mistake. Ack.

I'd missed it too. thanks for bumping. got it now

HEB  said about 4 years ago:

The staff turnover (and mortality rate) in Section D should be investigated by HR and H&S officers

Another one bites the dust....

HEB  said about 4 years ago:

After the great return in Series 7, Series 8 was a bit of a dog really
The Sugar Horse story worked well; Nightingale was just a bit crap really
And it looks like it will continue into the next season too

It was nice to have Ruth back, but a shame they killed off ............ without ever really developing the character.

Gordon  said about 4 years ago:

I thought 8 was ok. But youtube was tough to watch on.

It was nice to have Ruth back, but a shame they killed off ............ without ever really developing the character.

This statement puzzles me.

On a side note, Mrs Gordon bought me the box set, series 1 - 7. Ace!

HEB  said about 4 years ago:

Spooks* Series 9 starts this Monday

With new team members Iain Glen & Sophia Myles and Simon Russell-Beale as the Home Secretary (and Laila Rouass to join later). No Hermione Norris though...

Reeling after the explosion at the hotel, Section D are left considering the sacrifices they make as spies. But they are soon back in action, tracking Somalian AQ terrorist Abib on a boat from Tangier.

When it becomes clear that the boat is carrying a lethal load, the team fear it is headed to Plymouth for the launch of the newest addition to the royal navy's fleet. But is the real target elsewhere, and is it too late to find the UK source of the plan?

Lucas's own faith is challenged when he is visited by an unwelcome ghost from his past.

__v  said about 4 years ago:

Iain Glen & Sophia Myles and Simon Russell-Beale

shit, i never finished s8 and would probably have been happy to let it lie... but they're three seriously amazing pieces of casting. simon russell-beale is fantastic, i've actually wanted them to cast him as the master in doctor who for ages. might yet happen i guess.

HEB  said about 4 years ago:

Iain Glen was a wonderful Henry V for the RSC and yes SR-B would be truly great as The Master

Sophia Myles is interviewed about the new series here

SallySimpson  said about 4 years ago:

GAH!

My pre-ordered copy of S8 has been posted ready for a Spooks-athon upon my return.

HEB  said about 4 years ago:

So who is Lucas North then?

SallySimpson  said about 3 years ago:

Fucking hell.

I've managed to watch the first episode in its entirety and about half of the second episode but I keep fucking falling asleep.

TONIGHT, SPOOKS 8!

HEB  said about 3 years ago:

There was some talk that this might have been the end of it all, but apparently Spooks 10 is a go based on the slide at the end of this

...and from the finale it looks as though another ex-RSC actor - Vincent Regan - may be joining the team
Oh course, it wouldn't be Spooks if cast members {three in this case} weren't in the next season

HEB  said about 2 years ago:

Anyone else watch series 10?
As per usual with Spooks, long-term characters bumped off, but a cameo in the final ever episode was a surprise (especially for longer-term fans).
Can Simon Russell-Beale get his own series now please?

elle-zo  said about 2 years ago:

just watched the finale. not sure how i'm going to go on now - the end of Spooks. MISERY!

lots of fantastic twists in S10

SallySimpson  said about 2 years ago:

Where did you guys get Series 10 from?

I was going to order from eBay but I leave for OS on the 5th-ish of Dec and it wouldn't be sent until the 28th Nov.

I want to watch it in one hit on the long flight to London.

SallySimpson  said about 2 years ago:

Just finished Series 10.

WOW.

I probably should go back and watch it again to see the bits I missed due to my hands covering my eyes.
