Colbert Report love thread

froginasock  said about 6 years ago  or at  3:46PM on Monday, July 10 2006 in television

Oh how I love thee.

Delivering delicious thinking laughs at a pace other shows can only barely percieve (Daily Show excluded of course.)

Love him for who he is

Love love love.

This thread needs more truthiness.

I spent a night last week watching stacks of YouTube Colbert. So go to YouTube and do the same if you don't know of the Colbert.

Check out The Word segments for a sample, everyone.

Doooooo it.

This is a huge article on the Colbert phenomenon in (New York Magazine)[http://www.newyorkmetro.com/news/politics/22322/].

Good stuff. Factoids: He's the eleventh of eleven children, teaches Sunday school and is a massive Lord Of the Rings nut.

Back watching Colbert. Genius.

is it just me, or does he seem a bit more smug nowadays?

medicineman  said about 5 years ago:

he is awesome..... supercute prefers colbert to the daily show.

but i maintain that if it is a big day for political news and John has a good guest then the daily show is infinitiely better than colbert.

colbert is consistent where the daily show isn't always as consistent.... as colbert has a character that he is playing and which can translate across a myriad of topics and be used to make light of various things on slow news days.

the daily show is dependent on their actually being news.

so on both shows best days the daily show is going to be so much funnier than colbert.

however this is just being to analytical as i watch both shows religiously.

yeah i reckon you're on the money medicine.

Moving to 7.00pm, I see, with the Daily Show now on at 6.30.

sharptooth  said about 4 years ago:

oh my lordy.. i'm very late coming to mr colbert, but goodness me. much love.

Modi  said about 4 years ago:

I keep seeing ads for this on cable, but it's not actually on any of the stations I get. That's frustrating.

sharptooth  said about 4 years ago:

oh stephen how i love theee

and modi, you can watch full eps of the colbert report and the daily show at the comedy central website. the daily show site has a huge number of clips dating back years.

the ''sell-out off'' between the black keys and vampire weekend was a highlight. poorly acted by the musicians but still funny.

Got to go to the taping of last nights episode. Was loads of fun and very efficient for a TV taping. Colbert ad-libs way more than I would have thought (the whole stool bit in his intro was completely made up based on a pre-show chat with fans) for something that always seemed pretty scripted. Was pretty chuffed that Kissinger was the guest too.

If you're ever in NYC it's well worth heading down a bit before 4pm to put your name on the standby list. You can then head to a nearby bar (I recommend Valhalla on the corner of 54th and 9th) to while away the time until 6pm when they let everyone in for the taping. Everyone who was on the standby list got in last night including some who showed up dead on 6 to put their name down.

shakethecloudsout  said about 1 year ago:

Particularly funny ep and interview.. Sounds rad, thx for the tip, hope to do that in a few weeks..

oldtimer  said about 1 year ago:

Yeah, his tapings are a lot more fun than Jon Stewart's. Colbert seems to actually thoroughly enjoy what he's doing, and not just going through the motions.

slothman  said about 1 year ago:

i'm in love with canoe dancing

oldtimer  said about 1 year ago:

Was there much context to the 'stool' bit?

mongoloid_dave  said about 1 year ago:

When in NYC last year I went to Daily Show and Colbert tapings... Colbert taping was definitely a lot more fun.

slothman  said about 1 year ago:

new song kinda sucks, but i did like the bits with jack white. colbert seemed genuinely annoying. hilarious.

sharptooth  said about 1 year ago:

HUH!? comedy central website is no longer allowing international full episode streaming!? WHAT THE SHIT

Heinrich  said about 1 year ago:

Pirate bay? I'm more concerned with the fact that I can't buy a ''Turtles Don't Like Peanut Butter'' shirt yet.

esquared  said about 1 year ago:

got tickets to daily show and colbert in a couple weeks when i'm over, so excited!
