Lunchbox #8: Gareth Liddiard

The M+N Lunchbox series will not only make its long-awaited return in January, it’ll be doing it for the first time in Sydney.

In collaboration with Sydney Festival, The Drones’ Gareth Liddiard will be performing a free lunchtime show at Lower Town Hall in George Street in the CBD on January 13, 12.30pm.

Liddiard will play a 30-minute set ahead of his appearance at the opening of Live, a video installation featuring 20 musicians performing live on film, later that evening. Shot by Jasmin Tarasin, who directed Liddiard’s ‘Blondin Makes An Omelette’, the installation features artists including Liddiard, Kim Salmon, Sarah Blasko, Jarvis Cocker, Warren Ellis and Rufus Wainwright performing against a stark white background with no stage, lighting or band.

Lunchbox attendees will get a sneak peak of the installation, which will run from January 14-23. Attendance will be capped at 150 people (first in best dressed, not the other way around you insufferable hipsters), however unlike our Melbourne events catering will not be available (yes, we realise it’s called “lunchbox”). The performance will be recorded for later consumption on M+N TV.
