Trial By GIF: Triple J Hottest 100 Pt 1
By Max Easton
MAX EASTON offers his critical appraisal of triple j’s Hottest 100 2011 in a language the youth of Australia understands.
Taking in 1.2 million votes from music fans, spectators and members of Dave Grohl's fan club, triple j's Hottest 100 is unequivocally the world's largest annual music poll conducted by a government funded radio station broadcast on a national holiday. As an event that is nothing if not this country's finest musical institution, it deserves nothing but the most careful analysis of its contents; an analysis that could only be done via the internet's foremost critical tool - the animated GIF.
