– After the two previous singles ‘Sioux’ and ‘Black Rain’ comes ‘Idle Hands’, another taste of Danger Beach’s follow-up to 2010’s debut Milky Way. Pacific is out now on Dream Damage and sees Canberra’s Lachlan Thomas penning more night-time, guitar-bristling instrumentals steeped in Michael Mann-esque city atmosphere. Gigs with his current backing band are on the way.

– Sydney’s The Dead Heads have followed this year’s debut Go Ape Shit! with the dreamy new track ‘Your Conversations’. It’s got the same slacker ease as their earlier songs but feels more patient and developed. Definitely a sweet step up. They’re doing a long weekend of gigs in February around an upcoming EP that will feature said song.
Thurs, Feb 7 – The Phoenix, Canberra, ACT
Fri, Feb 8 – FBi Social @ Kings Cross Hotel, Sydney, NSW
Sat, Feb 9 – Barcode, Wollongong, NSW

– The name-your-price ‘Dot to Dot’ precedes a five-track 7” EP called Safe Sex from Sydney’s garage-surf-pop quartet King Tears Mortuary. It’s very loose and lo-fi, but with much prickly tunefulness shining through the cracks. There’s also an equally modest video for fellow EP track ‘Rarraruh’.
