Songs range from prickly and poppy to instrumental and anthemic in this week’s roundup of Soundcloud offerings.

– Rainbow Chan has been around for a couple years now, whether being remixed by Guerre and Albatross or covering Kylie and The Cardigans or guesting on songs for The Townhouses and Simo Soo. She’s getting much more attention all of a sudden, though, between an FBi-sponsored EP with Oliver Tank and the new single ‘Skinny Dipping’, which perfectly focuses the Sydney artist’s DIY collage of electronic pop and nostalgic ephemera, not to mention her floating – and here multiplied – vocal purity.

– ‘Lick the Pip’ is the fourth of four songs packed into Housewives’ new 7” on R.I.P. Society. Not quite 100 seconds long, it’s prickly, all amped-up and dreadfully catchy. The Sydney garage-punk five-piece are launching it, appropriately enough, in fits and starts along the East Coast starting tomorrow.

– Joshua Delaney from Chet Faker’s band has taken his mostly instrumental project Rat & Co from a bedroom-production solo thing to a full live quartet. You can hear almost exactly that trajectory – from ethereal to earthly – across the length of ‘Fourth Sun’, the new single from Rat & Co’s debut album, One (壱) Uno (壹) Ein. The band will play FBi Social in Sydney this Saturday (March 2) before supporting English electronic guru Gold Panda at Rocket Rooftop in Adelaide on Friday, March 8 and headlining The Toff in Melbourne on Thursday, March 21.

– Melbourne’s young indie rock quartet The Corsairs have completed their transition from a self-described “beach pop past” to more guitar-driven anthem-making with latest singles ‘Rich Kids’ and ‘Ruin’. They play next at the burger bar The B.East on Friday, March 15 with Young Maverick before launching those two singles on Saturday, April 6 at Ding Dong.
