Melbourne’s SARA RETALLICK, who performs as Jimmy Tait, took a four-week holiday/tour to Europe last month. She documents the trip in images, from strange tapas to a guardian squirrel.

Le Chambon-sur-Lignon is a village in the mountains in France that was a safe haven for Jews during WWII. We played in a nightclub there and made friends with some historical train enthusiasts and restorers. They invited us to take a ride on a steam train that was built in 1903. This is one of the enthusiasts.

First stop in Spain was Sans Sebastian. We were there for one hour. We ate tapas and looked at boats.

We had three days off and decided to go to Cadaques on the Costa Brava in Spain.

We befriended this man, Nanu. He and his ex-wife Josey own a Cuban bar in Cadaques. Every night he plays great flamenco and traditional French songs. It was like walking into a magical time warp.

Our Spanish promoter Albert lived in a house that was built in 1788. This guy was guarding my door.

After the gig in Mont Blanc our booker Miguel took us on a tapas tour. Every Wednesday night all the tapas bars in the town offer their special dish. The idea is that you go to all the bars, and eat one piece of food and have one drink in each. We had some great food! But this was so weird. The name of this ‘special’ dish (which was a sandwich on white bread with shrimp and mayonnaise inside) translated to something like ‘love sandwich’.

Hermannplatz Berlin – not sure what’s going on here, but I think I’m about to be teleported somewhere.
